2-Weeks Travel Route Uganda

Here is an example of a travel route to explore Uganda to the fullest and have an intense time seeing African culture and nature.

Jobs fill your pocket, but adventures fill your soul. ~ Unknown

Take a look at the map and the listed destinations. We explored more the Southern region and didn't visit any Northern parts yet.

ROUTE1:

Entebbe - 2 days

SI feel the African atmosphere in a smaller and more peaceful town and swim in Lake Viktoria.

There is a direct local taxi bus going from Entebbe to Kampala. Just ask for the taxi park at Entebbe, and you will be led to the place where to find this bus. Buy the ticket from the bus driver and sit inside. The bus will drive around till all seats are taken, so it takes time to get started. Other than that, you should reach Kampala in about 1 hour, including traffic.

Cost: approx. 15.000UgS

Kampala - 3 days

You are getting thrown in a busy big city with many people and many things happening.

Same here, to reach Mityana, simply take a taxi bus from the Old Taxi Park. You will see the town written on one of the signs. This drive is a bit longer, about 1.5 hours.

Cost: approx. 8.000UgS

Mityana - 1 day

A tiny town with only locals. Taking it as a stopover to reach the Queen Elizabeth Nationalpark. Going to Fort Portal is not that easy. There might be some connections from Kampala, even though we didn't choose this option this time. A friend took us in his car; the drive takes long, around 4.5 hours, passing by old simple lonely towns.

Cost: fuel approx. 120.000UgS

Fort Portal - 4 days

A starting point for Safaris to the Queen Elizabeth national park. Also an excellent place to party! The transportation back to Kampala is also possible again per private taxi or taxi bus. To get information about the prices and options, ask the locals when you are there.

Kampala - 1 day

Stopover.

Transportation to Jinja is easy but super bumpy. Also, it took us way longer than expected looking at traffic and the waiting time to fill up the seats. Luckily, some annoying salesmen offer drinks or food through the window.

Cost: approx. 12.000UgS

Jinja - 3 days

Action full time to see the wild Nile. A town more adjusted for tourists offering good restaurants and modern coffee shops.

ROUTE 2:

Instead of Queen Elizabeth National park -> visit the Murchisons Fall National park in the North of Lake Albert

Entebbe - 2 days

Starting to feel the African atmosphere in a smaller and more calm town

Kampala - 3 days

Getting thrown in a busy big city with many people and many things happening.

I have no experience with transportation reaching Gulu. Check out the Old Taxi Park, and you should take a bus to this destination. The drive is very long, around 5 hours.

Gulu - Murchisons Fall National park - 3 days

Explore the wildlife with giraffes, antelopes, elephants, lions, and warthogs

Kampala - 1-day Stopover

Jinja 2 days

Adrenaline and action!
